Three steps for seeking food assistance: choose a program, check current details, and contact the provider. Requirements vary by program.
Choose a food program, check its current details and contact the provider with questions. Requirements vary by program.

Choose a local food program

  • Need a nearby grocery pickup site? Use the pantry map.
  • Want to attend a scheduled produce distribution? Check Mobile Fresh.
  • Have a child at a participating school? Ask about school food programs.
  • Looking for groceries for an older adult? Ask about Silver Harvest.

There are several places to start in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. Choose the route that fits your household, then check that program’s details.

Find a local food pantry

Our partner pantry map lets you enter your address to find nearby pantries. Second Harvest supplies food to partner agencies, which share it with neighbors through their local pantries.

Before you travel, check the pantry’s hours and ask which areas it serves. You can also ask whether its program needs a signup or referral. Use the pantry’s own information to plan your visit, rather than assuming every location follows the same process.

Check the Mobile Fresh schedule

Mobile Fresh brings produce and groceries to partner sites in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties. There is no signup, and participants must be 18 or older.

Bring bags or a cart to carry your food. Some sites offer walk-up service, while others use a drive-through setup. Check the schedule on the Mobile Fresh page for your chosen site, date, and time. If the listed setup does not work for you, call to ask about other local options.

Ask your child’s school about food programs

Fresh Food 4 Kids serves children at participating schools. The program is open to children who attend that school site.

Second Harvest also supports school pantries for students and their families. These pantries are not open to the public. Contact your child’s school to ask whether it takes part and how its food program works.

Ask about Silver Harvest for older adults

Silver Harvest provides groceries for older adults and has age and income requirements. Signup takes place at local program sites, with one signup per household.

Call Second Harvest or speak with a program site to check the current requirements and learn how to sign up.

Check these details before you go

A few details can help you plan your visit:

  • Confirm the program name, address, date, and hours
  • Ask about any signup steps and the area the program serves
  • Check whether food pickup is walk-up or drive-through
  • For Mobile Fresh, bring bags or a cart

For income limits and paperwork questions, read our California food bank eligibility guide. The provider can explain which rules apply at your chosen site.
