Fresh Food 4 Kids Program
Fresh Food 4 Kids Program
Fresh Food 4 Kids (FF4K) is a vital program designed to serve children and families directly at school sites, addressing their nutritional needs both during the school year and throughout the summer months. The Food Bank delivers 4-6 pallets of food to participating schools. These deliveries include a wide assortment of shelf-stable items, meats, dairy products, milk, eggs, canned goods, fresh vegetables, and fruits. The school staff and volunteers set up an efficient distribution method, either walk up or drive thru, tailored to the specific needs of the school. One of the most significant advantages of FF4K is its inclusivity. The program is available to all children attending the school site, effectively eliminating barriers to access.
School Pantries
Second Harvest has developed an onsite School Pantry option to provide supplemental food items on demand, ensuring that students and their families have access to nutritious food whenever they need it. By utilizing existing school facilities, the program seamlessly integrates into the daily operations of the school, making it easily accessible for students and their families. School staff and volunteers run the pantry, ensuring it is well-organized and welcoming. They are responsible for setting the pantry’s hours of operation, typically coordinating them to coincide with times when parents and students are already on campus. The pantry is stocked with a variety of items, including non-perishable goods, fresh produce, and other meal and snack options.
These sites are not open to the public, contact your child’s school to see if they are a participating program site.
